Amazing Spider-man 614 is part three of "the gauntlet." In this story that has not been too interesting so far, Electro has gained the power of the public against Dexter Bennet - owner of the DB. Initially he did so only to threaten Dexter to give him the money he needed to cure his deteriorating state.

After being cured and transformed into a more powerful Electro 2.0, he continued to use the power of the people he had already gained for his own intentions, including still taking down Dexter Bennet.

As much as it seems as though Electro is finally having some long deserved recognition as a real villain, I highly doubt that he will play any big significant role that would threaten too many people. What I mean is that, I do not think Spider-man will need to call for backup for this thug.
